LAGOS 2015: WHO HAS THE “HEAD”?

Sayo Aluko

The race for who succeeds Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola as the Governor of Lagos State come 2015 has entered top gear. It's already an open secret. Without any doubt, argument, and/or weightless jabs of eccentric sentiment, considering the fact that the 15-year reign at the helm of the then Alliance for Democracy (AD), then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and now All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state has been distinctively exemplary, it shouldn't be far from sane that continuity of purpose with what this platform offers, is the best option come 2015. Continuity of purpose and not just the overused and propagandist cliché of "change" muffled by some bruised interest groups. .

As expected, an avalanche of names have sprung up from different coffers, politically-minded groups and spurious political permutations, each rightly or otherwise, touting one or two these names as possible successors.

LAGOS - As 2015 Beckons…

Sayo Aluko

Come May 29, 2015, all things being equal, a new Governor will be sworn into office in the landmark state of Lagos. And, to say the least, the jostle for that mantle of service, has been massively intriguing, thanks and no-thanks to the many unnecessarily extensive, spurious and politically-motivated calculations and permutations going on in various coffers.

For our Governor of Honour - SIR MICHAEL OTEDOLA

Late Sir Michael Otedola

Condolences and many well-wishes keep pouring in towards the Otedolas for the loss of the family's patriarch, Sir Michael Otedola, who also happened to be a famous former governor of our dear state, Lagos.

We here, at LagosCitySquare also send our unreserved condolences to the Otedolas and also importantly, Lagosians. We just lost an elder statesman, a major path-finder in/of the Lagos Project, our democracy, and the Lagos we have today.

Many of the insightful projects he established before, during and even after his relatively brief but eventful tenure are still positive reference points till today.

We join the Otedolas to thank God for our father's well-spent life and we pray that the family and the Lagos he left behind continually thrive in wealth, health and sagacious leadership.

For our dear Sir Michael Otedola, we can say, "Veni Vidi Vici!!!"

Kazeem Akintunde

Akinwunmi Ambode

The search for a successor to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola is on in Lagos. In this regard, Akinwunmi Ambode, a retired permanent secretary in Lagos seems to be riding high due to his purported endorsement for the job by the former governor of the state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. KAZEEM AKINTUNDE looks at his chances and hurdles.

In a couple of months, Lagosians would go to the poll to elect a successor to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. One name that is presently making waves in the centre of excellence is that of Akinwunmi Ambode.
